This story is worth a Honorable Mention, just to warn others.

I was in El Salvador. I went swimming in a pool at the base of a waterfall, half-way up the mountain. The pool was an artificial concrete basin. I dove from a rock and floated downstream, face down. Suddenly I noticed the current became very swift. I surfaced and realized i was entering a narrow tunnel. I grabbed the edge of the tunnel and pulled myself out. I was later told the tunnel led down the slope to the hydroelectric power plant in the valley. I was almost sucked into the power-generating turbine! I have several witnesses.

Technically, this shouldn't count, as there should have been some sort of warning signs, especially around an artificial concrete basin! Sure, you probably shouldn't have been swimming there, but it WAS a close call! I will keep this one as a PA! Thanks, Adam!
