(June 2014, Costa Rica) A burglar, named Villegas, who was trying to break into a banana plantation's cafeteria, fell from the roof and shot himself with a homemade gun, when the security guard found him and his accomplices, and fired to the air as a warning.

The burglars responded by firing at him, so the guard hid behind a wall and fired again. The shot scared the guys, who tried to run. But Villegas slipped off the roof and fell down.

Apparently, DIY guns are not that safe, and when Villegas fell to the ground, the gun shot him right in the buttocks. His two accomplices ran away from the place, but were captured by the police short after. One had a small buckshot wound, and the other was unharmed.

So, the lesson today is "trust the experts. Don't try to build a gun yourself."
