Man gets hypothermia stuck between

RCMP in central Alberta are trying to figure out how a man became wedged between two buildings and suffered hypothermia.

The 18-year-old was found in Red Deer on Thursday afternoon between the exterior wall of a new building under construction, and the exterior wall of a halfway house.

He had been stuck for "an extended period of time," the RCMP said Friday.

Fire officials said the man told them he was jumping from building to building when he fell into the gap, according to the Red Deer Advocate.

Crews had to cut a hole in the wall of the new building to free the man from the gap, reported to be half a metre wide. He was taken to the hospital with hypothermia.

Police said the man was not a construction worker, nor a resident of the halfway house.

The RCMP are continuing their investigation to determine if anything criminal took place.
