Man killed in Bock when plan goes awry (WebCite)

Tuesday, 20 October 2009 09:49

Mille Lacs County Sheriff Brent Lindgren reported Oct. 20 that on Oct. 17, in the city of Bock, a 32-year-old man was killed attempting to stage an accident to obtain prescription drugs.

Deputies responded to a report of a pedestria/motor vehicle hit and run at about 2:41 p.m. Oct. 17 on 70th Ave. in Bock. The reporting party, Ronald Felt, 29, of Milaca, said he came across an injured party on the side of the road. Later he said he knew the victim, who was identified as Lucas William Stenning, also of Milaca.

Stenning was still alive upon emergency medical personnel arriving on the scene but died in the ambulance at the scene despite their efforts.

According to Lindgren, investigators have learned that Stenning and Felt had been in Felt’s maroon 1999 Ford Windstar Van, and Stenning had concocted a plan to get and use prescription drugs by jumping out of that moving vehicle, becoming injured, going to the hospital, and reporting he had been hit by a vehicle to receive prescription medication. That plan failed when he died at the scene due to head injuries he sustained.

This investigation is ongoing and active by the Mille Lacs County Sheriff’s office and upon completion all reports of this case will be forwarded to the Mille Lacs County Attorney’s office for their review of criminal charges.

Submitter's comment: Obviously, the fact that the surviving driver telephoned to report a pedestrian had been hit tells us that the two guys worked together on this! The driver's genes might become temporarily unavailable while he's in the hoosgow.

Definitely Keep: Darwin Award
While car/pedestrian accidents are extremely common I think this guy is definitely deserving of an award. Purposely jumping from a moving car in some sort of twisted plan to get prescription drugs? What an idiot! Thanks for sending this in.

A new twist on the pursuit of the perfect (and free) high! I don't know WHAT this mook was thinking, but we won't have to worry much about him now! Quite ironically, when I read the article there was an ad for a local funeral home on the website. I imagine they now have a little extra business in these tough times! :-)
