A place not to tie shoestrings

2008 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Place: Ylöjärvi, Finland Date: 28th of June 2008 Story: A guy notices that his shoestrings are open. Well, he starts to tie them, but where? On a heavy traffic electric railroad. And how? Back to where train is coming. The kicker? His friend stood also there waiting till he is done, of course, looking opposite where the train came. Result: ugly and foreseeable, both guys died as the train collide them.

Train/pedestrian collisions are way too common but I think this one goes above & beyond the typical story. Simply taking one step to the side before tying his shoelaces would have saved both of their lives. Thanks for sending this in.

Stopping in a dangerous place to tie shoelaces is stupid. I expected my kids to have to be taught better, (and they now know better) but these morons are adults and don't have sense to step off the flippin' tracks!!! Full DA with honors! Thanks for the extreme stupidity.

$5 Darwin Fish.
6" x 2.25" Silver Emblem like those commonly seen on cars
only way sexier. A cute fish, floating belly-up, illustrating
the mechanism of natural selection. Minimum order is 2.
