Indian man nearly dies in TV stunt Email Printer friendly version Normal font Large font July 15, 2008 - 3:59PM

Advertisement A 22-year-old Indian man is reportedly seriously ill in hospital after taking part in a competition linked to a reality TV program that went wrong.

Anjar Khan took part in the stunt on Sunday, in which participants were asked to get into a water tank and hold their breath under water for as long as possible, at a shopping mall in Indore, central India, the Hindustan Times reported.

Khan stayed in the tank for between three and five minutes before organisers realised something was wrong and he was pulled out of the water.

The paper said he collapsed after taking a few steps and was on ventilator support in hospital.

Police were interviewing organisers of the stunt, which was for a reality show called Khatron Ke Khilari, an Indian take on the US show Fear Factor in which people must complete various stunts to compete for a cash prize.

"The required permission was not taken for this show. We are issuing a notice to the organisers," the paper reported local official Rakesh Shrivastav as saying.

$5 Darwin Fish.
6" x 2.25" Silver Emblem like those commonly seen on cars
only way sexier. A cute fish, floating belly-up, illustrating
the mechanism of natural selection. Minimum order is 2.
