Electrizing measurement effort

2008 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

12. 6. 2008 09:17 in Dobris, Czech republic, a man died by high voltage discharge, after he try to measure, how high above his head are conductors of high voltage powerline.

He take a long metal (!) pole, and manipulate with power line conductors. Electric discharge throw him away. Not first aid of his girlfriend, not paramedic effort return him to the life.

For his extraordinary effort, he earn "Blbec roku" ("dumbfool of the year" ) denomination, and (ofcourse) "Darwin Award" nomination.

And because human body can be incinerated by high voltage discharge, maybe deserve a "Cremationist of the year" award too.

Definitely Keep: Darwin Award
Why on earth would he want to know how high up the power line was? He certainly should have known better. Thanks!

Definitely Keep: Darwin Award
What gets me is that he wasn't even trying to steal wire! Well, maybe he WAS casing the pole, but either way this has to be THE stupidest "experiment" I've read about in some time! What also gets me is that the Czechs are historically a very intelligent nation. I would like to see this "Bibec Roku" award list! I'm sure it's a hoot! Thanks for a good laugh!
