Pelham- Metro North Railroad representatives say a manr riding on top of a train has been badly burned by a potent shock form its power lines. Spokesman Dan Bruckner says the incident Friday night was the first of its kind in the comuter railroad's 25 year history. The Stamford, Connecticut bound train's power source was being switched form 3rd rail to overhead wires as it pulled into Pelham station around 7:45 p.m. The power suddenly shut off, and the engineer went up to the roof and found Ricardo Chavez with his clothes aflame. He jumped on top of the train as it sat in Grand Central Station. Brucker says Chavez was exposed to 11,000-14,000 volts Metro North reported theat Chavez, who is in his 30's, was in good condition at a hospital Friday. No update could be made on his condition Saturday

P.S. I know he did not die, I just thought it might be a good honorable mention.

So the "art" of train hopping has finally reached the Big Apple! Well, maybe not. Some mook got squashed "subway surfing" a while back, but this is the first time I can remember someone getting a dose of juice from the overhead! Boy, does HE have a tale to tell...if he lives to tell it! Thanks!

It does amaze me that people will risk injury and death in this manner. Thanks for the submission!
