A Dope Caught the Train

2007 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

Rodney (age 19) was probably feeling great. In fact he was feeling really astoundingly fantastically great having just smoked a large amount of dope. Unwisely for someone who had just been smoking dope he was driving, but he was doing so at or below the speed limit.

Unfortunately, for Rodney three things then happened at the same time. First, the road he was driving along came to a railway crossing. Second, the intercity express train was also approaching the same crossing. Third, Rodney's mobile phone rang.

At this point we can imagine Rodney's brain was flooded with dangerous ideas: driving while wacked on dope; driving while using a mobile phone and driving across a railway crossing when a train is there. Of course Rodney's dope affected brain probably couldn't get around the concept that driving into the path of a train while reaching for a mobile is a certain killer.

So the situation killed him as train travelling at 130kmh (80 mph) left his shredded car spread along the tracks.

Gadzooks, did you see that picture in the link??? That, combined with a very good write-up and plenty of stupidity compels me to nominate this for a full DA! Verily, this lad had his priorities screwed up! Thanks for sending this in!
