Volts bolt kills teen on pylon

2007 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

A DRUNKEN teenager was electrocuted by 11,000 volts while climbing a pylon as a prank.

Pals said Ben Brunow, 19, was halfway up the 150ft tower when a bolt JUMPED into his body — hurling him 75ft to the ground and killing him.

Ben, of Newbury, Berks, had ignored pals’ pleas to get down from the pylon after drinking all day while watching Saturday’s FA Cup final.

The popular lad worked for dad Andre, 53, building mobile homes. Yesterday mum Sara, 47, said: “He was always trying to make his friends laugh.”

One paramedic said that the teenager had “no chance”. He said: “A charge that big can jump if you are next to it.”

a better write up, and a better story. The boy was an idiot and deserves recognition :)

I agree with Shadow. People were pleading with him to come down, but he listened to the little stupid voice instead. This must have been one hell of a sight! I'll go full DA on this one!
