Man shot by cat

2005 Reader Submission
Pending Acceptance

A possible nomination for an Honorable Mention?

This is from today's (March 9, 2005) issue of

the Detroit Free Press's web site:

http://www.freep.com/news/latestnews/pm3118_20050309.htm

My comment on this: Keeping a loaded weapon on his kitchen counter with the safety off and cats nearby is just asking for trouble.

Sorry, your link didn't work. I'd love to know more, as it's usually dogs that shoot their people, not cats.

Link worked for me... and I have to agree with the submitter that leaving a gun on teh counter loaded with the safety off is asking for trouble. Cats or not. But I am concerned by the contradiction in the story: "Marcie Miller, a representative of the Marquette facility, said there was no record of the hospital receiving a patient by that name."

The link worked for me, and while there seems to be some confusion as to which hospital he went to, I'll accept the validity of the story. In my experience, I've found that cats prefer knives to guns, so this is an interesting story...

Definitely Keep: Honorable Mention
ABC news has it on their pages as well, copyright 2005 The Associated Press. True story unless AP's into the hoax business which I doubt.

Please can you copy the text into the story in future, in case the link goes? Thanks
