Here follows an English translation of the item on the above mentioned webpage:

--------------------------------------------------- Man impaled while stealing a bike

Published: 20 February 2005 16:54

Sneek - A 51 year old man from the town of Uitwellingerga, Friesland, The Netherlands has paid dearly for an intended bicycle theft. Police officers found him Sunday afternoon impaled on a fence in the Kruizebroederstraat in the city of Sneek.

The man ended up in this unfortunate position because he wanted to lift a bicycle over a 1.80 m fence around a closed municipal yard., according to the police.

The fence's point had pierced the man's abdomen and scrotum. Firemen first cut the point, after which he was taken to hospital. It is unclear how long the man had been hanging up there. "Strangely enough he didn't scream even once during the entire action", according to the police spokesman.

------------------------------------------------

Unfortunately, the item does not mention whether the man lost his testicles.

Maybe Toss: Too Common
Thieves dying during their crimes, either by falling, getting stuck, or whatever, are quite common.

Neutral: Honorable Mention
I'm inclined to keep this for two reasons: 1. We have accepted some criminals who killed or seriously injured them in the commission of their crimes, and 2. I like the idea of a "Sneek thief..."

Neutral: Honorable Mention
While I also like the idea, I am of two minds on accepting this, primarily because we have received a lot of stories about thieves getting fatally (or otherwise) injured during the commission of their crime. But this is the first non-fatal one I've seen, so it merits further consideration...

Definitely Keep: Honorable Mention
I like this for 2 reasons. 1 he was stuck on a fence for quite a while and 2 he didn't make a sound during the rescue, which makes it a pretty unique situation.

Neutral: Honorable Mention
More details needed, but it's semi-unique. Did he try to climb over while holding the bike, did he land wrong trying to toss it over? And why didn't he make any noise?
