Nomination For an Honourable Mention: This newspaper carried a story of a chap who decided to streak at a soccer match between Dunfermline Athletic and Hibernian on Saturday 20/09/2003 at Eastend Park in Dunfermline, Scotland. All was well and the crowd most appreciative of some actual entertainment. Many will be aware of the great and the good tradition of removing all your clothes and running around at a public event in order to hold up the event for as long as possible, and evade the chasing authorities. This streak was achieving just that; until the streaker dropped and slid along the ground whereupon all the men in the stadium made a collective gasp of pain.

Unfortunately this streaker had not considered the much publicised replacement of the grass pitch with a new form of astroturf, and what happens when sliding flesh meets said turf. In this case that burning sensation was not a Sexually Transmitted Disease. The article carried a picture of the chap with his tackle covered by a hat, and his chest, stomach and legs covered by friction burns. For all his effort the referee still showed him a red card for diving.

Definitely Keep: Darwin Award
I disagree with the other moderators - there's no self-selection, but there is damage to the <cough> manhood. He might have reduced his capacity to reproduce ;o) Here's the link : http://www.sport.scotsman.com/football_dunfermline.cfm?id=1048272003

Definitely Keep: Honorable Mention
I know it shouldn't qualify, but it made me smile more than any of the other stories I;ve read today...

Maybe Toss: No Self-Selection
I do not see any significant threat to reproduction.

Maybe Toss: Other
I think that, in this case, I'd have to class it as accident. But I agree with Jack: Ouch!

Neutral: Honorable Mention
Ouch! While I'd like to have an URL to read the newspaper version, I think that this is a contender for an Honorable Mention.
